Cool Fire was a site-specific installation made for the mobile gallery, Axle Contemporary. Housed inside of a box truck, the gallery provides unique exhibition opportunities for emerging artists while exposing an unsuspecting public to immersive art experiences.

For Cool Fire, the gallery was converted to an immersive viewing chamber meant to be experienced by one viewer at a time. Entering through the rear of the truck, the viewer encounters a large reclining chair in a darkened room. Three televisions were installed on each of the surrounding walls, each silently tuned to one of the original major TV networks. The monitors were mounted to face the wall with a 2” space allowing the colors and rhythms of the monitors to seep out onto the surrounding wall. Cool Fire literally inverted the TV-watching experience to create a contemplative and sublime environment.
